What to Do When You Are Bored

Does boredom ever overwhelm you sometimes? I didn't realize how bored I was until someone asked me if I was bored. I then realized that I am in fact - BORED. My answer to this person was "Sometimes, but it's a good bored." :-) By that I mean, there have been times when there was so much noise or so many interruptions that I couldn't concentrate. Right now, because there is not much going on and not many people around...it's just quiet without many interruptions. I'll take that! Now that I realize I'm bored (haha!), I'm thinking about ways to alleviate the dull-drums. Some are not very practical if you are bored at work. I'm sorry. You'll just have to keep working! Here are things that are on my list. I'm sure your list will differ from mine, but maybe it will give you an idea or two. Watch a movie/start a new series (Netflix or Amazon Prime are great sources for something to watch.) Give yourself a manicure/pedicure Read a book...

Being Kind May Improve Your Day

Kindness. It can make a big difference in your experiences in life. If someone shows you kindness, it may make a bad situation better or a good situation even better. Besides, it is just a good thing - ALWAYS. I told you a few posts back about the stranger that made our day better. Because he had a kind heart and was willing to help, we weren't stranded at the Home Depot for very long at all. It very easily could have been all day. That kindness made a bad situation better...definitely! Kay, at the post office where I ship the packages for my Etsy store, goes out of her way to try to help me. I, therefore, go out of my way a lot of days to go to HER post office. I make sure I fill out the survey and give her an excellent rating (she says it helps her - I asked). I try to return her kindness in some way that will really help her. Speaking of packages...I try to be extra kind to the delivery people that come to my work. They have a hard job. I strike up mini conversations with...

Chaos Midst the Calm

My desk at work faces a window that looks out over the parking lot. Most days, not a lot happens out that window other than cars going up and down the road. I get to see if the sun is shinning or if it's raining. I see if anyone drives up, but that doesn't happen more than once or twice a day (unless there is something going on that requires more drop ins). That is until recently...a bird changed all of that. The bird has taken what was a peaceful view and made it into an anguish of sorts. You see, this bird chooses to attack (by attack, I mean with bodily functions) every vehicle that parks for more than a few minutes. Well, you can guess how much trouble I have when my car is out there for 8 hours a day!  I spend, I should say SPENT most days watching for the bird to catch her in the act. I bought a large squirt bottle to take outside to try and discourage her behavior. It didn't work. As soon as I would hit the bar on the door, the bird would take off.  I was about...

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things...Six Favorites, Actually

I want to share some of my favorite things. These are not paid endorsements. I have NO advertisers. I know a lot of these blogs bombard you with products or services because they get paid. Well, I assure you...this is not the case here.  I just feel like when someone is doing something right, you need to give them credit. I'm going to do that and maybe you will find something you enjoy in the process.  1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick #420 Blushed... Oh my gosh, you guys! I think I have found THE perfect lipstick (for me), FINALLY! I absolutely love this color. It has just enough pink, brown, and peachy tones to go with everything. ♥ 2. Alabama Shakespeare Festival (Montgomery, AL)...This is a wonderful place. We are heading there very soon! The next play we are scheduled to see is Sherlock Holmes . We've seen 6 or 7 plays/shows, I believe. Everyone has been excellent. It is a great place to go for date night. We dress up (a little), have a nice dinner, and then head to...

The Good Samaritan

Just when you think there aren't good people left in the world, something happens to change your mind. Let me tell you a story... My hubby had left the house early Saturday morning in his old, beat up truck. He had to make a trip to the dump and do some landscaping at the church. Well, after all of that and other running around, still in the old, beat up truck, he decided he needed to run to Home Depot.  I got the phone call. "My truck won't crank. You need to bring me the jumper cables & the gas can, in case I got some bad gas." I had just gotten out of the shower, so my hair was soaking wet. I quickly dried my hair or attempted to dry it enough to leave the house.  So, here we are in the Home Depot parking lot...jumper cables & gas can in hand. The truck still won't crank. Here are some things you need to know: My hubby is very smart. He knows a lot of stuff about a lot of things. He knows about fixing all sorts of things...including automobiles. H...

Some Days Drama Finds You

Some days there is drama. You don't have to look for it, it finds you. Sometimes, you try to do what you think is the right thing, only to find out you have upset someone without meaning to do so.  How do you handle these situations? There are times when you want to run away and NOT deal with it. That's not very practical in most cases, though. Pretending like an uncomfortable situation does not exist does not make it go away. You have to deal with it.  What are some ways to deal with conflict? Prayer - always and in every situation! Listen to the other person Make sure you are communicating properly - miscommunication is usually a big cause for issues Try to see the other person's side of the situation - there are always two sides and yours is not always right Recognize mistakes your have made and try to rectify them Don't get emotional! Keep your cool... Stick to the actual issue - Don't bring up past issues that have nothing to do with it.  Sometim...
