Some Days Drama Finds You

Some days there is drama. You don't have to look for it, it finds you. Sometimes, you try to do what you think is the right thing, only to find out you have upset someone without meaning to do so. 

How do you handle these situations? There are times when you want to run away and NOT deal with it. That's not very practical in most cases, though. Pretending like an uncomfortable situation does not exist does not make it go away. You have to deal with it. 

What are some ways to deal with conflict?

  1. Prayer - always and in every situation!
  2. Listen to the other person
  3. Make sure you are communicating properly - miscommunication is usually a big cause for issues
  4. Try to see the other person's side of the situation - there are always two sides and yours is not always right
  5. Recognize mistakes your have made and try to rectify them
  6. Don't get emotional! Keep your cool...
  7. Stick to the actual issue - Don't bring up past issues that have nothing to do with it.
 Sometimes we just need to take a step back or keep our mouth closed and listen. Hear the other person. As #4 states, your side is not always right. I know that's hard to accept sometimes. Sometimes, for the sake of relationships, you just have to let stuff go. It's just not worth losing family and friends to win an argument or battle.
