Will It Ever End?
When I saw this meme I knew it was for me! I was having an email discussion with my cousin about this very subject today.
She is a better housekeeper than me, but she still has her hang ups. She hates to fold clothes and put them away. She said her guest bed will have a pile of clean clothes getting all wrinkled, but she ignores them. I, however, will hang and fold (except the random load I leave in the dryer to be reheated at a later time) as I'm doing the laundry, but I get behind on doing the laundry and never seem to catch up with the demand...not totally.
It just goes to show, even though I thought my cousin was the "perfect" housekeeper. No one is perfect. While her hang up is not a large one...believe me, I wish that was the only problem I had with housework, there are flaws.
Everyone of us has flaws. We put too much pressure on ourselves when we try to live up to an imaginary standard that we set for ourselves or that we allow others to set for us. As far as our homes are concerned, there are chores that must be done (like it or not) and we need to keep things sanitary/clean for ourselves & loved ones. That doesn't mean we need to beat ourselves up if we are unable to do what needs to be done in a timely manner. Life happens. There are more important things to experience than laundry! While I'm not giving myself a free pass to ignore what needs to be done, I'm saying there will be times when it just can't happen like you want it to or how you want it. In THOSE times, cut yourself some slack. It is not the end of the world. Hopefully, you won't have company that day. HAHA!
We need to worry more about how clean our hearts are instead of our houses! I do love a clean house, I'm not going to lie, but everything needs to be in perspective, though. If we are putting that before God, then it's wrong. If we are yelling at our husband because he's making a mess, then your behavior is wrong. You see what I mean? I could go on and on with examples, but I'm sure you get the idea.
My prayer is that I will be a better working housewife. It's tough sometimes...juggling a job, house, Etsy store, husband, etc (in no particular order ;)), but a lot of women do it. Maybe when my prayers are answered I won't have to throw away any loads of laundry!
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."
Psalm 51:10
