What Makes You Happy?
What makes you happy, I mean, truly happy? Is it buying a new car, a house, or new clothes? What about when you have a day off from work, does that make you happy? What about vacation?
I think people get excited about all of these things, but do they make them truly happy? Hmm...I don't think so. I think the happiness that comes from things or a vacation is very short lived. Yes, you do get some satisfaction out of it, but it doesn't take long before the new wears off or you go back to work and it's like you have never left.
I think to be truly happy the change has to take place in our hearts and minds. If you are a Christian, you experienced a big change one day in your life. The day you ask Jesus into your heart is life changing and does make you truly happy. That is not to say every day is easy. Even as Christians, we experience trials and tribulations, but the big difference is, we have a book of promises to cling to during these times.
Here are some of the promises:
That's not to say you get off free and clear without offering something to God in return. Some of the promises have conditions...like James 4:8 "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you...." I think that once you have a relationship with Him, keeping up your end of the deal is no problem! "Relationship" is the key word, though. There are a lot of Christians that do not have a relationship with God. They just go through the motions, but they do not spend time with Him or want to know more about Him.

- He is with us wherever we go
- He will never leave us
- He cares for us
- Nothing will separate us from His love
- Trials will lead to maturity
- If we ask for wisdom, He will give it

"Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous?
Do not be afraid or
discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Joshua 1:9
